I hope the person who dumped it on the floor gets his or her arteries all clogged up by the cholesterol, fat and salt from the pizza.

May that person never, ever eat anything better than foul fast food.

Even Rats are Cleaner than some Cashew Heights Residents

I wonder who are the people who keep doing this over and over again.

Do they not realize that they are turning their own home into a rubbish dump when they litter?

This is one reason there are rats in Cashew Heights

I took these photos one evening when I walked around Cashew Heights.

It makes me wonder what it would take to get residents to dispose of their rubbish properly.

Just before I took this photo, a woman walked up from the car park and dumped an empty drink packet on the top of the bin even though it was already overflowing. So why couldn't she have taken the packet back to her flat to throw it down the rubbish chute instead of contributing to this mess?

See the legs in this picture? They belong to a woman who was about to dump some boxes next to the bin. She retreated and went into the lift when she saw me.

Couldn't the stuff on top be taken home to be thrown into the rubbish chute?

Well, what can I say. Did some idiot just drop this unknowingly?

At least this litterbug is kind of neat! LOL

So the rubbish is bagged. Why not throw it into the bin?

If the boxes can't fit into the rubbish chute then take them to the bin centre at the side! Some people are so lazy and inconsiderate they can't walk a few more steps. 

NEA is helping Cashew Heights solve its rat problem

Help is on its way to get rid of the rats threatening the health of Cashew Heights residents.

The National Environment Agency has said it will show the management of Cashew Heights what to do to eliminate the rats.

It said the first thing that needs to be done is to catch some of them to ascertain that they are indeed rats and not garden shrews.

Shrews can be recognized by their pointed heads.

Once it has been established that the rodents running around Cashew Heights are rats, the NEA will tell the MC what to do and help it to implement the necessary measures.

The NEA wants evidence of the rats' existence even though the MC of Cashew Heights has already confirmed that the rodents are indeed rats.

In the minutes of its meeting in July, the MC stated that the rat population in Cashew Heights has increased.

3.6    Pest Control MA reported that the estate rat population is still increasing, especially around the Pool, BBQ and Restaurant areas. MA will need to get rid of their food source and poison them actively.

Pest Control contractor has been instructed to put rat poison in the bin cute (sic) areas and to seek and introduce rat poison into the rat barrels (sic), to monitor and destroy the rat barrels (sic).

 Even though the problem has worsened, the MC has yet to inform residents about it by issuing the notice it had promised in its previous meeting.  The least the MC can do is to tell residents that there is a problem, that steps are being taken to solve it and what they can do to minimize the threat to their health.

"The rats in Cashew Heights did not come from us" say town council, LTA and contractor

The LTA, its MRT contractor, and Holland-Bukit Panjang Town Council have denied that the rat problem in Cashew Heights is the result of MRT tunnelling works and an increase in rodent population in the nearby HDB estate.

The Management Council of Cashew Heights had in its minutes of meeting alluded to both the LTA and the Bukit Panjang HDB estate being the culprits.

The Holland-Bukit Panjang Town Council, in response to queries, said its HDB blocks are rat-free.

"We do not have a problem with rats. In fact, we have a "rat attack" programme in place from September 2011 till August 2013 which the Town Council had collaborated with NEA to identify and eradicate any rats within the HDB estate.

You may ask your Management Council to inform us if they had spotted any rats in our HDB estates and we will get our Pest Control to address the problem."

The LTA and its contractor for Cashew Station also stated that the rats in Cashew Heights could not have come from their MRT work site.

"Tunnelling for the Downtown Line at Cashew Station is now 22 metres underground. That's too deep for rats. If rats had come from the MRT tunnel, Cashew Heights would have felt the effects one and a half to two years ago.

All construction sites follow strict NEA guidelines. Environment officers check regularly for water ponding and pests.

The Cashew Station site has a canteen where workers eat. They are not allowed to eat anywhere else on site and all food scraps and rubbish must be disposed of properly.

We will call the NEA and get them to check. But we are sure they won't find anything."

Rats In Cashew Heights

The rats are still around. I hear them squeaking when I walk around the grounds of the condo. I almost stepped on one, not once but twice. Just a few days ago the local newspapers reported that a worker in Little India died on July 11 from a rat-transmitted disease. Tests showed that the 27 year-old worker from Bangladesh had contracted leptospirosis, a bacterial infection spread from rats to humans. Are we waiting till someone from Cashew Heights gets the same infection before making a more concerted effort to get rid of the rats? The MC is now blaming the nearby HDB estates and LTA construction works for the problem. It wants to send a circular to inform residents that traps have been set. A month has passed since the MC put up its minutes of meeting. The circular has still not gone out. If the MC and MA find it so difficult to send out a mere circular, I wonder just how they are going to muster the energy to solve the rat problem.

OH RATS!!!!

Besides having to contend with people who litter, spit in the pool, and let their dogs loose without a leash, residents of Cashew Heights now have to deal with another pest. Rats, it seems, have invaded the condo! At least one resident has seen rats all over the grounds of Cashew Heights. I wonder what the Management Council has to say about the problem. As far as I can recall, nothing on rats has been mentioned in any minutes of Council meetings posted on notice boards. Is the MC aware of the problem? Has anything been done to get rid of the rats? Rat infestation is a serious problem. The health of all residents is at stake. The MC and management agent should tell everyone about the extent of the problem and the steps being taken to solve it.

Note to Self

Do not walk under Block 95 and Block 99A, especially in high winds and rainstorms.

Cashew Heights is Not a Golf Course

I just saw someone practising his golf swing by the pool.

What an idiot - doesn't he know he could hit and hurt people with his golf ball?

This person is not the only idiot golfer in Cashew Heights.

I once saw another stupid man showing off his limited golf skills on the grass verge behind some parked cars near the side gate.

If ever you get your car windows smashed, you know who to blame.

KEEP POLITICS OUT

The Management Council of Cashew Heights has decided that residents of the condo need lessons in who to vote for in the coming general election.

It wants to "increase the political awareness of all Singaporean residents" and ensure that they "better understand the party they wish to cast their votes for".

The Council members seem to think their aim can be achieved by allowing political parties to stuff residents' letter boxes with "party paraphernalia".

I look forward to the day when my letter box is filled to the brim with those pamphlets that are deemed so essential to my political well-being.

I will be taking them all to the management office so that Council members can explain to me in detail what the leaflets are about and why I should read them.

National Day is still several months away.

Yet some eager Cashew residents are already flying the flag.

They're a bit fuzzy about the national colours though.

Come to think of it, the stars and crescent moon are missing too.

Sometimes you just got to ignore the trash and look out for more pleasing things instead.

Dog, Snot And Fish

This is what I encountered when I went for a walk around Cashew Heights this evening.

1 A teenaged girl walking her unleashed dog.

2 Two men in the pool blowing their noses and flinging their snot at each other.

3 Same two men gargling with water from the pool and spitting the water back into the pool.

4 Several children and their maids feeding the fish in the pond.


So once again my neighbours are flouting AVA rules by letting their dogs roam freely in public without a leash.

They are continuing to foul the pool with their snot and spit.

And now they are killing the fish in the ponds by feeding them bread even though there are signs clearly stating that such indiscriminate feeding will harm the fish.

Litterbugs - Welcome To Your World

Hello there! Did you arrive at this blog by searching "Cashew Heights" on the web?

Did you do that because you want to know more about this condo before signing a rental lease or buying an apartment here?

If that's the case you will feel right at home if you like to spit, shit and blow your nose in the swimming pool, let your dog run loose without a leash and shit in the condo grounds without picking up after it, and throw your trash all over the place.

One of your would-be neighbours just let his dog loose in the lovely little park in the condo and the poo you see in the picture above is their little gift to you.

Nature Fights Back

Nature keeps giving its wondrous gifts even though some residents of Cashew Heights continue to go about their destructive ways. These beauties are a joy to behold. But beware, whoever destroyed some of them, Nature carries a sting.

The beauty is only skin deep

Now that you've had your fill of the beautiful view in the previous post, it's time to look at what's underfoot. The litterbugs of Cashew Heights have gone out of their way to make their presence felt. Some of the rubbish has been there for more than a month. I suspect that the littering is mainly the work of three teenagers who hang out there in the late afternoon. They smoke, drink, eat and make out on the picnic table.

Accentuate The Positive

Cashew Heights residents are still bent on turning their home into a big rubbish dump.

But even the most determined litterbug cannot destroy the beauty around him.
